Please join us in supporting real change. Please consider making a donation to THE HERREN PROJECT, which is a non-profit organization.

Through our personal experience and loss of Franciska’s son Matthew on June 12, 2016, 12 days after his 25th birthday, of an accidental overdose, it has been our goal to educate and help others struggling with addiction. We have chosen to put all donations raised, through your thoughtful gifts, towards scholarships for individuals who can't afford treatment centers, therapy, and recovery programs. Unfortunately many families don't have the resources or the insurance to help their loved ones get the help they so desperately need.

When we first learned of Matthew's addiction to opioids (from prescribed painkillers from minor surgeries), we had no clue what addiction really meant, who to turn to to get help and what needed to be done. He was a normal college boy full of love and life. We were simply blindsided. Matthew was in his senior year of college. No one spoke of addiction or admitted to knowing anyone with an addiction at that time. It was a stigma and disease that people seldom talked about. We did the only thing we thought to do at the time and got him into a rehab center and thought he would be ok once he completed the program. But that's not how addiction works. I wish we knew then, what we know today about the steps and resources needed to overcome addiction and move forward with one’s life. The Herren Project is a remarkable organization that's mission-driven to help with TREATMENT NAVIGATION & RECOVERY, FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES & OUTREACH. Today with an opioid epidemic of this proportion, it is so important to have the resources to reach out, prevent and educate our youth on the fatal dangers that these drugs so often cause, including from over-prescribed painkillers.

This is why we are so passionate about helping those that need and want help. Every donation will go towards a scholarship in Matthew's memory. Hopefully, it will give some individuals the resources they need to move forward in their recovery process throughout their lives.

Many thanks for supporting us, our families and our causes, as we start a new chapter in our lives. Looking forward to celebrating with you!

Love Franciska & Charles
