Grand Canyon Rim2Rim2Rim Run for Sobriety

At the age of 36, I found myself addicted to alcohol, depressed, anxious, and on the verge of losing my job and everything I had worked for.
I had dug myself into what felt like a hole that was impossible to get out of. I had to do something!
I checked into a detox facility, went to meetings, went to counseling, went to rehab, etc...
I spent the next year relapsing and trying to remain sober over and over until eventually my sobriety stuck and I was able to thrive and be HAPPY!
So how did I make it stick? I didn't give up on myself and I kept fighting for myself. I took my claws out and decided I was not going to live like that.
Through sobriety, I was able to clean up my finances, get promoted in my career, I was able to help others, rediscovered a lot of passions, and met the love of my life.
The biggest lesson is that without sobriety, I don't have anything!
Over the last year (2021-2022) I found running as a major passion of mine. I went to the Grand Canyon for my 40th birthday and decided I was to run it. So I started training in May of 2021. In September I ran my first marathon, I ran another one in October, in January 2022 I ran my first ultra-marathon at 50k (31 miles), and last but not least in February 2022, I ran a 50 miles ultra marathon.
Now it is coming time to run the Grand Canyon Rim 2 Rim 2 Rim (South rim to North Rim and then back to the South Rim). It is about a 46 mile run with roughly 11,000ft of elevation gain.
Since running gave me so much of my confidence and my self-worth back, I wanted this run to be about more than just me. This is all about the strength we ALL have in us and that whatever hole anyone is in, they have the strength to get out.
